Women at all levels shape the insurance industry’s future through leadership, expertise, and innovation. To celebrate their contributions, we sat down with several leaders from insurance agencies to discuss their journeys, the heroic women they admire, and their sage advice for the next generation of professionals.
Please describe a woman who inspired you and explain her impact on your career/life.
Kaitlyn: My friend, Blythe, has greatly impacted my career. Her work ethic inspired me to enter the insurance industry! As a mentor, she included me in client meetings to learn the value of insurance and investing.
Ashley: As a top teacher, my mom led by example, which had a tremendous impact on my life. Her unwavering commitment to supporting her students and colleagues through industry changes instilled resilience in me. Through her example, I can overcome any obstacle and be successful in anything I pursue.
If you could have lunch with any woman in the world (past or present-day), who would it be and why?
Kaitlyn: Lisa Miller, her dedication to the insurance industry has been relentless. She inspires me to go beyond running an agency. I would love to be the next FL Deputy Insurance Commissioner one day.
Nicole: Marie Curie, a scientific pioneer and the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. As the only person to win in two different sciences, I would love to hear about her experiences breaking barriers in a male-dominated field. Our lunch topics would include her relentless curiosity, how she balanced passion with personal sacrifice, and science’s future.
Ashley: Sarah Keller, Pastor at Next Level Church, is such an inspiration to many women. She lives an authentic life of faith, pursuing the Lord in everything she does. Her example of leading with love and intentionality energizes me to continue to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually.
What advice would you give other women entering the insurance industry?
Kaitlyn: Believe in themselves! Our industry has many pathways to success, including being an agent, an underwriter, or a customer service representative.
Nicole: Build your confidence! Trust your knowledge, speak up in meetings, and advocate for yourself. As more women enter leadership roles, there’s an opportunity to shape the industry’s future. Support other women, push for inclusive policies, and be a role model for future generations.
Ashley: Be persistent! When I started in the industry, I heard “no” frequently, but I continued pushing forward and pursuing my goals . Rejection can be an opportunity to grow.
Thank you to all the incredible women who shared their stories and insights with us for International Women’s Day.
