Our company has been committed to community service since our founding in 2006, and we deliver on that promise every year. For 10+ years, HCI Group and TypTap have engaged in countless charity and volunteer events focused on uplifting and empowering our local communities. When we look back at 2022, TypTap is proud to have hosted eight charity events that responded to our neighborhood’s various needs. By reflecting on our annual contributions, TypTap is proud of the support we’ve provided our community.
5K in the Bay: Gramatica Family Foundation (April 2022)
Over 1.4-million veterans reside in Florida alone, so in April 2022, TypTap collaborated with the Gramatica Family Foundation to provide combat-wounded veterans with mortgage-free, energy-efficient homes. By hosting a 5K run, we were able to change the lives of veterans by providing comfortable housing. These homes welcomed some of our country’s heroes to live independently and with dignity; at the same time, they pursue higher education, civilian employment, and other personal goals without worrying about some of the financial obligations of home ownership.
Paint Your Heart Out Tampa (April 2022)
For eight years, TypTap has participated in Paint Your Heart Out Tampa, a one-day event with the volunteer nonprofit organization that paints the homes of low-income, elderly residents in Tampa. With 25 TypTap volunteers, we revitalized one of the most essential assets for our elderly community members. One of our neighbors, Gloria, received a refresh to her long-term home.
Rise Against Hunger (May 2022)
With 35 TypTap volunteers and the international hunger relief organization Rise Against Hunger, TypTap distributed food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable populations. TypTap contributed by creating over 10,000 meal packages in May 2022 and another 10,000 with 20 volunteers from our Leadership Team in August 2022.
Back-to-School Drive: Colson Elementary School (July and August 2022)
TypTap’s volunteers collected over 130 kits for our communities’ elementary schools at the start of the academic year. By contributing to the youth in our neighborhoods through our Back-to-School drives, we hope to inspire our next generation of leaders with brand-new materials.
Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful (September 2022)
In partnership with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful (KTTB), 25 TypTap volunteers cleaned up the Diamondback Nature preserve. The organization aims to solve the ever-increasing volume of trash, litter, and debris on our shoreline. Following KTBB’s mission, at TypTap we’ve helped promote a culture of environmental stewardship through volunteer and education opportunities.
Thanksgiving Food Drive: Feeding (November 2022)
Feeding Tampa Bay, part of the national Feeding America network, focuses on providing food to nearly one million families in the 10-county area of West Central Florida. TypTap volunteers donated over 100 kits to low-income families in our community in the fight against hunger.
Bolt Run (November 2022)
For two years in a row, TypTap has participated in the Bolt Run hosted by the Lightning Foundation. The organization’s mission is dedicated to investing its resources and leadership to enrich Tampa Bay. Supporting relief efforts for our community members impacted by Hurricane Ian, 22 TypTap volunteers attended the 5K to help the community during tragedies.
Angel’s Tree: A Kid’s Place (December 2022)
TypTap has been delivering holiday joy for over 10 years to children who have been removed from their homes due to neglect by partnering with A Kid’s Place. This organization provides residential services to children from birth to age 18, who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or abandonment. They provide a variety of services that meet the social, educational, medical, and psychological needs of the children in our community. We hope our assistance with A Kid’s Place will assist with keeping sibling groups together in a safe, stable, home-like environment until a more permanent placement can be provided.
